We
offer files in several different abrasive qualities from coarse to
fine. Lower numbered abrasive qualities such as 80 grit or 100 grit
describe a courser more abrasive file best used for removing overlays.
180 grit files are often described as “medium” and
are great for general work on artificial nails. For natural nails you
should use the fine (240 grit) and very fine (360 grit) varieties of
nail files. These offer a gentler filing action.
Often times, it will be necessary to use more than one grit size in a single nail care job.
For example, you might want to use a 100 grit file for smoothing down
the tip of an artificial nail, but a finer 180 grit file during the
blending process. For this reason, many of our files come with a
different grit size on each side of the file.
Common popular
combinations are the 100/180 and the 120/180 nail files. Not having to
switch files mid job, makes these hybrid nail files very convenient.
