Understanding Teaching Within the Nail Industry

If you have been working in the nail industry for quite a while now then you will have picked up a lot of knowledge along the way. Can you remember how difficult it was at the beginning when you didn’t know as much? Did you find learning about the nail industry to be easy or did your teacher make it difficult for you to learn? Unfortunately there are many teachers out there who are not great at communicating with their students. The nail industry can be exciting to work in, but many students are giving up before they are qualified because of the teaching methods.

Wouldn’t it be rewarding to teach other people more about what it’s really like in the nail industry? Do you have a natural way with people and you find it easy describing the different techniques that you use? If so then you may want to consider teaching your skills to others. You do not have to give up your current job to teach others. You could potentially start off doing it part time. It would earn you a good additional income and you would feel a lot better about yourself knowing that you were helping others along the way.

The Requirements

If you are interested in becoming a part time teacher within the nail industry then you will have to meet certain requirements. Typically you should have at least three years experience as a technician. If you want to teach at a professional level then you will also need an Assessor qualification. If you are unsure what the Assessor qualification is then you can check with your local FE college. You will also need to have worked in a salon or on a self employed basis for at least five years. If you choose to become a professional teacher then you will also need to take part in continuous training.

However if you simply want to teach part time in a less professional manner then you can always check with local colleges and universities. They often bring in qualified nail technicians to teach nail sectors in beauty classes. The pay is usually quite good and it can actually be quite fun teaching this way too. You can also get jobs teaching as a self employed technician with product companies. However there will be no guaranteed income and you will also have to organise tax through the Inland Revenue.

Overall there are things that you will need to consider if you do fancy giving teaching a go. However, it can be extremely rewarding and it can also earn you a good additional income on top of your nail technician job.
