If you are thinking about starting up your own nail salon then you basically have two options. The first is that you can hire out premises, purchase your equipment and pay rent and utility bills every month. The second is often considered to be the easier option and it involves working from home. But is it really practical to set up a nail salon in your own home and could it possibly work for you?
To Think About
When you set up a nail technician business in your own home it provides you with many advantages. Firstly you don’t have to travel to work every day and it is a much more convenient location for your business too. It also provides an excellent opportunity for you to spend more time with your family.
Perhaps you have just had a baby and you need to be at home to look after them but you would still like to work too? Perhaps you can’t afford not to work but you still need to be there for your children? Whatever the reasons, working from home allows you to combine business with family life and that can be extremely beneficial to many women.
The only real downside to setting up a nail salon within your own home is that there will be strangers constantly coming and going. Your children may get confused or unsettled by this. It can also make your home feel more like work instead of somewhere that you can retreat to. As well as that, it can disrupt your family life too. So a lot of thought does need to be put into working from home before you actually do it.
Setting up a Home Business
Before you set up your home business it would be a good idea to seek permission from your local council. You will need to make sure that your home is a safe and hygienic place to run a business from. After all, you need to take the health of your customers seriously.
You will also need to register as self employed. If you don’t do this within three months of setting up your business then you could be hit with a big fine.
A nail salon will need enough space for you to comfortably perform procedures. You will also need to purchase the best equipment possible too.
Overall setting up a home nail salon can be hard work. It may save you money in the long run but if you do not know what you are doing then it can potentially negatively affect your family life if you are not careful.
