When choosing the right equipment and furniture for your nail salon, the desk lamp is an important purchase. It may seem like such a small insignificant thing, but the desk light provides you with the light that you need to perform the treatments.
No matter which nail treatment you are conducting, they all require excellent lighting. Without the right amount of light mistakes can easily be made and it makes your life that little bit more difficult. A desk lamp will ensure that you have excellent lighting at all times.
Choosing a Desk Lamp
 You may think that it is an easy enough task choosing a desk lamp, but in fact there are a few things to consider beforehand. There are different types of desk lamps and you need to understand the different functions that desk lamps can offer before you can choose the right one for you.
One factor that many nail technicians do not consider is how much heat the lamp gives off. All light bulbs will provide a certain amount of heat and usually you do not get close enough to the bulb to feel it. However the desk lamp is going to be shining directly onto the nail technician’s hands as well as the client’s hands. So if it is conducting too much heat it can make things really uncomfortable. Another reason why the heat of the lamp is important is because too much heat can also interfere with the nail products that you use. Ideally you should choose either a low energy light bulb or a Halogen light bulb to avoid these potential heat problems.
The lightshade on the desk lamp also needs to be considered. You do not want the light to get into your eyes and so the shade needs to be adequate enough. Finally you need to think about where the lamp will plug in. Will there be wires trailing along the floor? If so then it could be a potential safety hazard. Always choose a lamp that will fit easily to a nearby electric socket. There are even some nail technician desks which come with electric sockets on them. If you connect these to the electric supply then trailing wires won’t be an issue.
Overall a desk lamp is essential in the nail industry. So make sure you choose wisely when you set out to purchase the right one to suit your salon.
